About Origins DPC

What is direct primary care?

Direct primary care (DPC) is a membership based healthcare model that provides you exclusive access to your primary care practitioner at a reasonable price. I do not accept insurance and as such am able to keep the cost of most healthcare needs to a minimum. Typically at lower annual costs than most high deductible health care plans. DPC is NOT insurance, I still encourage coverage when available for emergencies, hospitalizations, and catastrophic events.

Why did you choose a DPC model?

I want to bring healthcare back to its roots! Accessible, affordable, and most of all personal. I value TIME with my patients which fosters a sincere patient - provider relationship. Accessing care should be timely and flexible. No more long waits for pressing appointments which are typically available same or next day; and you get flexibility in the type of visit that suits your needs either in person, via telehealth, or secure email/text. High deductible health plans have substantially increased the number of ‘underinsured’ individuals where high out of pocket costs prevent them from utilizing necessary and valuable health services. Truth is, health care is not that expensive once you remove the middlemen!

How will DPC improve my health?

DPC providers have smaller patient panels affording us sufficient time to fully address all your preventative and chronic healthcare needs during a visit. My practice is evidence based but not one size fits all. We will focus on all aspects that impact your health and well being to develop a personalized care plan. Nurse practitioners in particular, are well suited to evaluate quality of life measures and functional goals to develop individualized treatment plans that address your whole health.

What sets Origins apart from other DPC practices?

I partner with Rubicon, an e-consult platform with over a 100 specialty providers for those “curbside consults” that don’t necessitate a referral. Primary care has long been a referral generator to high cost specialty care. In many instances a visit is not necessary, but the advice is priceless! Often, I am able to contain your costs while providing the expert care you deserve.

What options do I have to access my PCP?

I offer in person visits, secure video visits, telephone visits, and secure text/email. Home visits can be arranged for an additional fee to cover time and travel. I do ask that we respect each other's family time but I am available for urgent issues out of business hours. We will plan ahead for routine issues, but circumstances will arise and can often be addressed the same or next day. I understand the traditional work week and schedule is long gone and I’m willing to flex and schedule after hours visits by request and availability. Remember though, in an emergency dial 911 or go to the closest emergency room!

Who can join a DPC?

I currently have openings for patients 12 and older. You don’t need insurance to be a member, DPC is an affordable solution for many uninsured. DPC is a great option for those with high deductible health plans. As a member of a DPC you’re not bound by insurance ‘network’ policies allowing out-of-state residents access to care while you’re here in the 603! Whether you’re a college student or land here for the summer months, there's a membership plan that's right for you. There is a waiting list for Medicare patients but I expect to offer you services very soon, please contact me for details.

Do you provide medication assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders?

YES! I have been treating substance use disorders alongside primary care medicine for over 5 years. Let's talk about your specific needs and options for stimulant, alcohol, or opioid use disorders. I am well versed in various treatment modalities to meet your needs.
